The mission of the Catskill Mountain Foundation is to transform the Greene County Mountain Top into an internationally recognized arts destination, and their many initiatives are moving them towards that goal.

CMF Initiatives:

  • Development of new state of the art performance venues like the Orpheum Theater in Tannersville and the Doctorow Center for Performing Arts in Hunter.

  • Development of the Sugar Maples Center for Arts and Education in Maplecrest, offering an extensive curriculum of visual and studio arts courses.

  • Year round performing arts programs in music, theater and dance.

  • A gallery and craft shop featuring the finest work of local artists and craftspeople.

  • An independent bookstore with one of the largest selections of books on the Catskill region and exceptional literary arts programming.

  • The Mountain Cinema at the Doctorow Center, a multiplex offering the finest in Hollywood and independent films.

  • The Fresh Harvest Café and Farm Market, which is both an outlet for local producers and the source of a variety of exquisitely prepared homemade items.

  • A Natural Agriculture Farm where the tenets of natural organic farming are practiced and taught.

  • Publication of the Guide Magazine, the only four color monthly arts oriented magazine serving and promoting the Catskill Region, with a distribution of 25,000.
